Should the Borough of Milltown hold a forum to discuss the entire matter, so that everyone is clear on the issues, and be in a better position to decide what our development options are?

Not Sure 2%

What is your biggest concern about the Ford Avenue project?
Either there is a lot of misinformation out there, or most residents are starting to get a bit concerned about the whole project.

Here is a sampling of the comments:

● Low income housing.
● Too many school age children.
● Traffic nightmare.
● The strain it will place on our existing emergency services.
● The ability of our infrastructure to handle the new construction.
● The ultimate cost to the town.
● Will the environment be adequately cleaned up?
● Another tax increase to the already strapped residents.
● Not preserving the existing history of the site.
● The smoke stack and water tower.
● What happened to age-restricted only?
● Housing will become Section 8 bringing drug addicts and crime!
● Political influence.
● No rental units; too many apartments.
● No firehouse in plans.
● Pollution, noise, quality of life.
● The cost to buy the property.
● Clean it up ASAP.
● Inadequate recreation opportunities.
● Losing our "small town feel".
● The agency is afraid to pursue other avenues.
● Too much money in, not enough back to the town.
● I am confident it will work!
● High density housing.
● Number of units way too high.
● That it won't get done.
● Lack of input by the residents.
● We painted ourselves into a corner; and now we must choose the lesser of two evils.
● It will be defeated by some uninformed residents and Berger will build his 550 units.

Do you approve of the way the Ford Avenue Redevelopment Agency is handling the project?
No 66%
Yes 4%
Not Sure 30%

If possible, what you like to call a "Do-Over"?
Yes 67%
No 11%
Not Sure 22%

Additional Ford Avenue Comments:

From the comments I received, it appears the Borough Council and the Redevelopment Agency have their work cut out for them.

Here is a sampling of the comments:

● When it first began I was a believer, but one by one Charlie Jegou's prophecies are coming true. I have lost all confidence in the rude and bullying tactics of the agency.
● No plan is better than a bad plan.
● Start the process over, limit housing to senior housing, more open space and put the new firehouse on the site.
● The health, safety and welfare of our environment and children should be the town's highest concern. However, this does not seem to be what is happening here. The agency, borough council, etc. only have the profits of the builder in mind.
● Save building #5 for a community center/theatre.
● No eminent domain.
● Save the smoke stack and water tower.
● Don't do it.
● Leave site as is. Why do we need to redevelop the site?
● Current plans no longer reflect the original plan.
● Milltown seniors will not be able to afford to live in these new units.
● The whole thing is now looking like a bait-and-switch.
● What happened to only age-restricted housing?
● Replace the whole agency.
● Build more commercial; they pay for their own services.
● Let's get moving.
● Keep the trucking firm, United Way and the dance studio.
● Needs to be redeveloped; open space is not viable.
● I do not wish to reap the consequences brought on by the agency, borough council, etc.
● Let's just get it done!
● Build a high school.
● Just do the environmental clean-up and let the site be. Oh yeah, have the town remove all the "hazardous" trees at no charge.
● Build something for the kids.
● We must defend ourselves against Berger's 550 unit plan.

Any Topic

What else is on your mind?

● The dishonesty of individuals running Milltown at the present time. They are a little bit honest, which is like being a little bit pregnant.
● Our town needs a YMCA.
● We need more parks.
● I heard that the borough will pay for my landscaping; true?
● Milltown needs an auxiliary police force.
● It's hot!
● Who is Brian Harto?
● The quality of life for the residents should be the most important thing to consider when doing any project. But it seems like politics plays the most important part in everything that is done.
● Save Spirits.
● I find the residents that speak at every council meeting to be quite tiresome, but if the council would just answer their questions maybe they would not have to ask the same ones over and over.
● Tell Russ to buy new cameras for channel 15.
